A man of integrity and character, he is a well-known educationist, administrator and disciplinarian. He was born on July 02, 1945. He passed the matriculation Examination in the year 1960 conducted by Bihar Secondary School Examination Board, Patna securing the 7th position in Bihar. He was ranked 1st in B.Sc. Part-I in 1962 conducted by Ranchi University and passed B.Sc. (H) in 1964 from Ranchi College and M.Sc. (Physics) in 1966 from Ranchi University and was placed in first class always and completed Ph. D. (Solid State Physics) in 1983 from Patna University.

He started his teaching career as lecturer in Physics in Ranchi University in 1966. He continued his services in Science College, Patna from 1967 to 1983 as lecturer in Physics. He was promoted as Reader in Physics in the same Deptt in 1983. He has been university professor of Physics from 1985-2005 in Patna University. He has been a brilliant teacher.

He has served as Vice Chancellor, BRA Bihar University, Muzaffarpur for 3 years(2004-07) and is rated as a strict disciplinarian. He has attended several national and international conferences /seminars during his illustrious career. Dozens of books and many research papers are to his credit.
