Tillandsia stricta is an epiphytic plant from the Bromeliad family that is native to Venezuela, Trinidad, Guyana, Suriname, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Norther Argentina. This diverse range of habitats has allowed the plant to adapt to different climates. The stricta is an evergreen, clump-forming, short-stemmed, perennial with leaves arranged in thick rosettes. Many variations are available today: soft-leaf specimens, hard/stiff leaf, light green to silver, and even some close to black.
Tillandsia stricta hard leaf is one of the most vibrant blooms in the genus and will from a clump or cluster of plants overt time. The origin of the plant#39;s name stricta means #39;erect#39; and describes the upright growth habit of the plant. Perfect for beginners, it is easier to grow than a potted plant!

Green to silver leaves that grow 1-4quot; long in a rosette, plants will measure up to 6quot; across and up to 12quot; high.
Blooms:
Inflorescence displays as bright red or bright rose bloom spikes with bright blue flowers. Flowers last up to a day, the bracts will remain up to 10 weeks.

Environment:
Medium to high humidity. It will usually tolerate indoor levels with slight difficulty and prefers a more humid environment. Grows best in 55-90 degrees F and will tolerate as low as 45 degrees for a very short period of time. Needs good air circulation.
Light:
Bright indirect to filtered, direct light. Try to avoid North-facing windows due to lack of sufficient lighting. Direct sunlight may burn the leaves.
Water:
Submerge plant overnight upon receiving, then every other week thereafter. Decrease watering if the humidity levels are higher. Gently shake the plant to dislodge water then place upside-down on absorbent material until the leaves are thoroughly dry. Soggy leaves or overly damp crown/base may encourage leaf drop and disease. Decrease water in winter.
Fertilizer:
Use a balanced fertilizer every month during the growing period. It is advisable to use a epiphyte fertilizer mix or a general-purpose fertilizer diluted to 1/4 of the directions.
